The Story of Yute
The name Yute Expeditions comes from my grandfather, known by friends and family as Yute Burns. He was known for his adventurous spirit and his love for the outdoors. Long before tourism became what it is today, he spent much of his life exploring the rivers, forests, and mountains of Belize.
His passion for the land and its stories inspired the next generation of guides in our family. What began as a love for adventure slowly evolved into a family tradition of sharing Belize with visitors from around the world.
Growing Up in San Ignacio
San Ignacio is the heart of inland Belize and one of the best places in the country to begin an adventure. Surrounded by jungle, rivers, caves, and ancient Maya temples, it is a region that naturally inspires exploration.
Growing up here meant spending time outdoors exploring caves, swimming in rivers, and visiting temples hidden deep in the jungle. These early experiences created a deep respect for Belize’s natural beauty and cultural history.
For us, guiding is not just a job. It is a way of sharing the places that helped shape who we are.
